SPACE FOR KIDS

there is a whole Universe for the little troglodyte Explorer…

Children love to play hide and seek and they see the world through eyes of wonder and amazement. Our space for kids has lots of shapes and secrets. We are in the middle of a countryside full of contrasts and there are no roads with traffic. Our cave complex is built into the rock and it is safe to play, run and climb up and down, jump around… There are so many things to see!

There is one special cave to play inside, exclusively for kids (about 3 to 10 yrs old). It is called Cueva para el Topo what means the Mole’s cave and it’s situated right next to the restaurant and its terrace with access from both. While Mummy & Daddy have a rest and some nice tapas, the little ones can crawl through the tunnels and find out how and where to get in and out off the slide… There is a very small pool just to refresh your feet in summer next to the Mole’s cave and there is our big outdoor pool.

The caves encourage our imagination to run wild and connect us to our most remote ancestors. Furthermore they offer a space where the children can play and explore and disappear for a moment behind the rock, in the garden or into a magic world!

In our area you can find some interesting ACTIVITIES for children and

there are some nice EXCURSIONS which they might enjoy.

Here are a couple of proposals. For example:

Baza – Archery, bicicross circuit, CIYA Archaeological Visitor’s Centre about the Lady of Baza, Playgrounds in the parks Alameda, Constitución and Alcrebite. During July and August when it is usually very hot, there is a summer activities program every Thursday in the park of the Constitución and sometimes on Fridays on the Plaza de las Eras close to the town centre from 22 to 24h.

Galera & Orce – Archaeological and paleontological sites. Workshops related to remains of ancient cultures as well as traditional resources such as esparto grass.

In Galera we recommend a visit of the Castellón Alto. The citizens of the El Argar culture used to burry their dead inside their huts and nowadays you can see all the skeletons behind glass windows. It is a bit grim but children love it.

Zújar & Freila – Beaches on the shore of the lake and a pool with medicinal waters. You can rent a canoe, a pedal boat or stand up paddle boards.

Castilléjar y Cúllar – Each town has a round shaped artificial lake or summer swimming pool. In Cúllar you have an extra pool for the very little ones where the water is very shallow.

Huéscar – We suggest you go to the fish farm near the San Clemente reservoir lake. They rent you a fishing rod and you can buy the fish you catch. It is great fun for the whole family.

Castril – It is a lovely walk along the river Castril. Part of the route is over a wooden construction built into the face of the rock, through a cave gallery and over a hanging bridge. The Pasarela passageway is not difficult and good fun. At the end of the path you find an old mill with a restaurant and a playground.

Purullena – Archery (the targets are fake animals hidden in a fabulous natural spot with trees and rocks and beautiful views) & collection of Birds of prey. The people who run the place teach you how to use the arch if you have no experience and if you tell them in advance they also make delicious picnics and paellas for groups.

Purullena is famous for its pottery.

Cela, Orce and Huéscar –There are natural springs called Baños de Fuencaliente in the neighbourhoods of the three towns and they fill a pool where you can swim in. They are open throughout the whole year but despite their name there are not really warm…

Serón – Fairy Tale (train) station, only in Spanish!

SPACE FOR KIDS

Usually children love Al Jatib. Today we often welcome guests that have been on holiday in our cave complex with their families when they were younger. These young adults remember the experience of their childhood and come back with their friends or partners. There are nice stories which start new ones…, for example when someone asks to marry his girlfriend on our terrace at sunset…
